Obituary of Ada Ann Brydges

1936 - 2023

 

Ada Brydges (nee Baxter), dearly beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the age of 87 years.

 

Ada is survived by her daughters, Val Hazle (Craig), and Sue Stevenson (Rod), all of Calgary; grandchildren Erin Puente (Blair), Heather Nelson (Jeff), Colleen Giesbrecht (Nic), Allan Hazle (Amber Ryder), and Karin Hazle; great-grandchildren Blake, Kayla, and Alice Giesbrecht, Carley, Kenna, and Kaydie Nelson, Adora, and Milo Puente.

 

Ada is also survived by her sister Grace Koenig (George) of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

 

Ada was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years John Brydges, her parents George and Florence, sisters Irene, Fay and Eva, brothers George and Alec.

 

Ada worked in the insurance business for many years, opening her own business in Battleford, SK. She also worked alongside John in their General Motors car dealership in North Battleford.

 

Ada had a passion for travelling and explored the world extensively with John and continued after he passed away. She enjoyed spending many winters in Maui. She had friends from all over and enjoyed going to visit. She also enjoyed travelling with her family.

 

Ada was a gourmet cook who loved to prepare meals for her family and friends. She made a chicken coq au vin that could rival any chef. Ada loved to decorate for every occasion and served up amazing meals for the season. She welcomed people into her home with open arms.

 

Ada was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #285 and previously of the Battlefords United Way.

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
