Condolences
Wonderful memories of Elva over the years. She was a very kind and gentle soul with a warm smile and great sense of humour. She was loved & appreciated by all 6 McKenzie kids and very close to our parents Marg & Bob. Mom and Elva kept in regular contact and communicated regularly well into their 90's. Tremendous friend for my Mom for so many years, She was a highly trusted & valued executive assistant to one of our Scarboro neighbors for many years as well, they often commented how Elva was respected, valued & loved by their family & business associates. She was given a sporty white Camero as a bonus one year for all her appreciated efforts, Can still remember Elva taking me a rip in that car punching it up Bow Trail. Elva worked tirelessly for so many people at Bethany Chapel for so many years. Very involved helping out on all kinds of committees, serving at camps, doing business reports, Up & Overs, event & social teas you name it Elva was behind the scenes helping out or putting it all together, Condolences to the whole Webb Clan. May your many fond memories of Elva be of comfort in the days & weeks ahead, Absent from the body present with the Lord, Will be taking in her memorial from BC

Elva was my Sunday School teacher when I was in grade one in 1955. I remember going to a Christmas party she held for her class at her parents home on Premier Way where she then lived as well. I was not an easy child, but she was always kind and gentle to me; much more that I am sure I deserved. Even then I was crazy about cars and so I remember her big blue 1956 Mercury which she kept for many years.
Up until I last saw her at Bethany Chapel on a Calgary visit not so long ago, she always went out of her way to come over and greet me with that same warm, cheerful spirit, and ask relevant questions about my family and me.
Blessings on you, her family,
Gord Taylor

We send our Deepest Sympathy on the passing of your wonderful Aunt
Elva. We just read of her passing today on line we are in Palm Springs.
She was a delight, we worked with Her when She was at The Dobbin Group in the 90’s. She was always so pleasant, efficient and sweet. We know Her Faith was so strong and like you said She is now celebrating the delights of
Heaven.
We will watch Her Life Celebration on line, what a great idea. We will celebrate with you all in Her Eternal Life…Blessings,
Old friends, Greg & Maureen
Having lived next door I enjoyed visiting with her. She was a grand lady and very much a gentle person.
I will miss our many short visits. lew king
My husband Paul, and I, moved to Calgary in August of 2019 to serve at Bethany Chapel. Elva was immediately a bright shining light as we interacted with her at church for a short 7 months until Covid put us all at home and online. Therefore, I volunteered to help call Bethany congregants in their homes to "check in" on them. Fortunately, I had the end of the alphabet and was given the blessing to call Elva. We did not know each other very well yet, but I will never forget that call. I thought I was calling her to encourage her, but several times in our conversation my heart jumped...she was nothing but positive and encouraging . There was "no fear" in her and she praised the staff and her table partners siting one positive issue after another..."oh they have spaced and seated us so nicely at the tables...they sanitize even the salt and pepper shakers... The Lord is in control...yes I am doing great and how are you doing?...and on and on. Clearly she was ministering to me and not me to her. I'm sure each of you who knew her are saying "Amen". Elva lived all the fruits of the Holy Spirit to the Max!!!
I came to Calgary in 1982 as a Children’s evangelist working with Scripture Union. Elva volunteered to be my secretary and for the next 9 years she looked after my mailing lists, did my typing, and kept me organized. She did it all out of her love for God and desire to further His Kingdom and in a way that demonstrated His love. Rest well Eva in your Saviour’s arms.
Elva was a great “pretend” Auntie for me and Natalie; I remember fun play times at Premier Way (& the cool whale bathroom!) as a little kid, & then as an adult, sharing a love of opera with Elva. She was a generous woman of God, who liked to laugh, and our family is grateful for the moments & memories we’ve shared. Elva is already missed…
Love to all the Webbs from the Radford family (Chuck, G.R., Natalie and Andrea)
I remember Elva coming to visit Nancy, Susan, Dan and myself along with Marlene and Donna Humpheries. That would have been about 1955 or 1956. The three drove from Calgary together, and we had a wonderful visit at the Heeney farm in Ingersoll, Ontario.
In my teen years I remember joining with Elva and the Webb family for some awesome Sunday meals after church. They all made me feel accepted and welcome. Elva initiated conversation with me to make me feel part of the group.
In later years I remember Elva traveling with Marlene and another woman on a cruise that stopped in San Diego. Elva helped to look after Marlene who was showing initial signs of Alzheimer’s. We all had lunch together, and I recall privately expressing gratefulness to Elva for her care and friendship to Marlene during a difficult time. Elva had a genuine servant spirit to support and encourage others.
Elva and the Webb family were long time family friends since my parents, Bob & Margaret McKenzie, moved from Vancouver to Calgary in 1950. Elva’s faithful and committed friendship over the years was appreciated by my folks and especially after my father passed away in 1996 and my mother and Elva lived as neighbours close to Bethany Chapel. As children, we knew Elva as a loving friend, as she was often in our home for meals and visits. Her commitment to her Lord by the many volunteer activities she was involved in at Bethany was remarkable, right up into her 90’s. My mother and Elva enjoyed participating in Chapel activities, galavanted on many day trips together, as well as on holidays to the BC Coast, Hawaii and throughout Alberta and Ontario. Elva kept everyone current as to what was going on and was so caring to friends who needed a call or a visit. There will be many stars in Elva’s crown as she celebrates enjoying her new home with her a Lord in Heaven.
