Obituary of Sylvester Douglas

December 13, 1944 - Ben Lomond Village, Trinidad and Tobago

March 28, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful father and friend, Sylvester Douglas, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the age of 78 years.

Born in Trinidad & Tobago on December 13, 1944, he immigrated to Canada in 1967 to follow his passion in fabrication with his experience and training in metallurgy. Dad built a life in Calgary while keeping close ties to Trinidad where he always kept his dream of farming active.

Sylvester is preceded in peaceful rest by his parents, Josiah and Poptee (nee Pariag); and the uncle who raised him, Arthur. He is survived in his immediate family by his sister Yvonne (Noris Cross); his children, Craig (Jennifer), Sheldon (Sarah), Lance (Judy), and Jacinta; his grandchildren, Nathan, Kathryn, Anthony, Rachel, Jaina, and Jacob; his partners, Lois (nee Johannes) and Daisy Laltoo; and many other loved ones.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Douglas’ service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
