Obituary of Delfina Ermelina Zatti

May 12, 1926 – Driolassa, Teor, Udine, Italy

March 30, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Delfina Zatti of Calgary, AB, passed away surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the age of 96 years.

Delfina was born in Driolassa, Teor, Udine, Italy on May 12, 1926. She married Luigi Zatti in Tarcento, Italy in 1964 and immigrated to Canada to join him there in 1966. Delfina and Luigi, along with their daughter Isabella, moved from Prince Rupert, BC, to Calgary, AB, in 1980, where they proudly made and cared for their home.

Delfina studied tailoring in Italy at a young age, she was a very skilled and talented seamstress, creating beautiful clothes for many people in her life.

Delfina was from a religious family, a woman of great faith, and a long-time member of the Canadian Martyrs Parish.

She was a creative spirit and loved to draw, garden, and sing. As her eyesight diminished in later years, she returned to knitting, a skill she had learned early in life.

Delfina was incredibly resilient; she never despaired no matter what she faced. She had an infectious sense of humor and incredible wit. Delfina loved her family fiercely and was a loyal and devoted friend, she was effortlessly loved by many. Delfina will be missed more than words can describe.

Delfina was predeceased by her husband Luigi Zatti; brothers Duilio Bigotto and Don Remo Bigotto; and her parents Guerrino and Marcellina Bigotto. She is survived by her sister Mariangela Bigotto, daughter Isabella (Hardee), and grandson Francesco. She is lovingly remembered by her extended family in Toronto, step-granddaughters Jessica and Emily Lineham; and step-great-grandchildren Chloe, Emmett, Vada, and Lincoln.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Parish (835 Northmount Dr NW, Calgary, AB T2L 0A3) on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Parish (835 Northmount Dr NW, Calgary, AB T2L 0A3) on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., followed by reception onsite. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
