Obituary of Deanna Elaine McCaw

Deanna McCaw, beloved wife of Neil McCaw, passed away in Calgary on Thursday March 30, 2023 at the age of 79.

Deanna was born in Hanna, AB on April 12,1943 to Erna and Otto Stern. Upon graduating high school and completing a secretarial course, Deanna and her perfect penmanship moved to Red Deer, AB working for a stockbroker until moving to Calgary to work at AGT where she met her husband, Neil. Deanna and Neil were married in Calgary on December 28,1968. In Calgary they started their family having three children, Shannon, Tracy and Danny. Transferring within AGT, the McCaw family moved to St. Albert, AB then on to Vegreville, AB where Deanna became a phone operator. Four years later, Deanna was delighted to move to Mississauga, ON with her family where she was in close proximity to her sisters, Bev and Rhonda. A secretarial job at the head office of Tall Girl in Ontario led to a store manager position in Calgary three years later, where Deanna worked until she retired.

Deanna will be remembered for her dignity, class, sense of humor, love of sports and above all her unwavering devotion and love for her family.

Besides Neil, her loving husband of 55 years, Deanna is survived by her two daughters Shannon (partner Tara) of High River, Tracy (partner Kevin Rowe) of Calgary and her son Daniel (wife Stacy) of Calgary, her sister Rhonda Freeman (husband Dave) of London, ON, her brother Calvin Stern (wife Eveline) of Hanna, AB, and her five grandchildren, Shelby, Madison and Logan Gavriel of Cranbrook, BC.  Seamus and Declan McCaw of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by a loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Deanna was predeceased by her parents Erna and Otto Stern, her sister and brother- in law Beverly and Gary McKoen and her brother Gary Stern.

The family wishes to say a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Father Lacombe Care Society for the kindness and love they gave Deanna in the last year of her life.
