Obituary of Theodosia Octavia Markarian

June 7, 1983 - Lloydminster, Saskatchewan
April 1, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Theodosia (Theda) Markarian of Calgary, AB passed away on Saturday April 1, 2023 at the age of 39 years.

She loved beauty and beautiful things, and never realized how truly beautiful she was, inside and out.  

She was smart and wickedly funny, and intelligent and well read, and a strong defender of fairness and justice. She was a voracious reader, a powerful writer, passionate about fashion, and a very talented cook and baker. Her heart was huge, especially for those less fortunate, and she loved her cat, Henry, in all his furry, three-legged energy. She taught us all by example how to be our authentic selves in this world.  

She gave the best hugs.  

She is survived by her mother, Mary Brandt; her brother, Lee Brandt (Christina); her nieces and nephew, Alexis, Wyatt and Harlee Brandt, all of Calgary; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was dearly loved by her grandparents who predeceased her, Richard and Jean Jones, and Doris Brandt. They are taking care of her now.  

The family will be holding a Private Memorial and will not be holding a public service. If you wish to remember Theda, we ask that you support the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and hug your children.

In living memory of Theda Markarian, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
