Obituary of Shelley Joan Johnston

December 31, 1952 – Kingston, Ontario

March 31, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister Shelley Johnston.

Shelley was born in Kingston, ON, and she moved with her family to Alberta in the early 1960’s.  Shelley made Crossfield, AB, her home for many years.

She passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023, surrounded by her family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Shelley had a passion for travelling and would quite often be found planning her next beach vacation or going to see her sister in New Zealand. She loved spending time in the Drumheller Valley with family and her beloved dog Daisy. She was talented at making crafts, especially birdhouses and Christmas decorations. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Shelley worked at the Calgary Drop In for many years and though she could have retired she chose to work and help those who were less fortunate. Shelley truly thought of her co-workers as family and they in turn thought of her as a mother.

Shelley is survived by her daughter Erin (Dave), and sons Chris, and Steven (Kayla), grandchildren; Nicholas, Eric, Mathew, Cole, and Connor, sister Cheryl, brothers Michael (Dorothy), Shaun (Lori), and by her nieces and nephews.

Shelley was predeceased by parents William and Francis, and brother Rick.  

Thank you for being with us for as long as you were. Shelley you are missed by all who know and love you.
