Obituary of Jesslyn Alana Davies

October 13, 1988 – Red Deer, Alberta

April 3, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter, Jesslyn Davies, who left us on Monday, April 3, 2023. She was a shining light in our lives, and her passing has left a void that cannot be filled.

Jesslyn battled cancer for two and a half years and despite the pain and discomfort that came with treatment, she never once shied away from any procedure or medication that could help rid her body of the disease. Her strength and determination were an inspiration to us all.

She died peacefully and naturally, surrounded by her loved ones. Although her passing has left us heartbroken, we take comfort in the fact that she is no longer suffering and that she is now at peace. Her courageous battle against cancer serves as a reminder of her unwavering spirit and determination to never give up. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live each day to the fullest and to never take a single moment for granted.

Jesslyn had a great sense of humour and loved to make people laugh. She believed she was a master of idioms but may have never got one right and could always find a way to make you laugh. Jesslyn loved the outdoors and felt at peace when she was in the mountains. She would always say, “Just get up and go," whenever she wanted to encourage her family to get out and explore. Her love of nature and the great outdoors will always be remembered. Jesslyn was a loving wife and devoted mother to her two boys, Will and Nate, who were the centre of her universe. She always put their needs first and was always their biggest fan no matter what they were doing. We get to see the best parts of Jesslyn shine through her beloved children.

As a nurse, Jesslyn had a special place in her heart for geriatric patients. She cared for them with a tenderness and compassion that will never be forgotten. Jesslyn was a caring, kind, and selfless person who always put others before herself. She was loved by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Rest in peace, dear Jesslyn. We will miss you more than words can say, but we know you are now in a better place, watching over us with that beautiful smile of hers.

There is currently no formal service planned for Jesslyn but we will be organizing a celebration of her life in the near future as the weather gets nicer, where Peter and Jesslyn were married. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Jesslyn Davies, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, Ab t2x 3j3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
