Obituary of Marie Laure Eliot

February 18, 1932 – Spiritwood, Saskatchewan

April 10, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Marie Eliot (nee Turgeon) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the age of 91 years.

Marie married her husband Niels Eliot on May 29, 1960, followed by a several month tour of Europe. Marie has two fabulous children and five awesome grandchildren: Lise Eliot and her daughters, Kendall, Allie, and Nicole; all living in San Diego, California; and Stephen Eliot, married to Katie Winterbourne, and their children Madeleine and Dominic; all living in Perth, Australia.

Marie was known for her accounting and number skills, and keen card sense. Marie was a very accomplished Bridge player and played both locally and in weekly internet competitions with partners around the world. Marie was also an avid golfer, both in season in Calgary, and whenever she travelled, where she played rounds in Mexico, California, Europe, Africa, and Australia.

Marie also made the world’s greatest blueberry pie.

For the past sixteen years Marie suffered from vascular dementia and spend the past decade in continued care at Revera in McKenzie Towne and AgeCare Midnapore. Marie was supported over the last decade by the fine people from Granddaughters Home Care for Seniors and her family would like to thank them for going the extra mile to make Marie comfortable over this period.

A memorial event will be organised in the coming months in Calgary and then Marie’s urn will be laid to rest in Spiritwood. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
