April 9, 2023

It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and husband, Albert (Bert) Louis Joseph Morissette at the age of 75 on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, at the Foothills hospital, in Calgary, Alberta after a brief illness.

Bert was born February 24, 1948, in Winnipeg, MB, growing up on a farm, attending school in the small community of Fannystelle, MB. and high school in Elie, MB. He loved and had a close bond with all his family and school friends. After leaving Fannystelle, he lived most of his life in Winnipeg, a few years in Saskatoon, La Salle, Carman, and lastly Portage la Prairie.

Albert worked and later retired from Otis Elevators in 2005. After which he enjoyed many trips to Europe, cruises to Alaska, Panama Canal, and the Caribbean and spending many winters in Texas and more recently Osoyoos, BC. Retiring gave him more time to fish, perfect his golf game and watch his beloved Jets and Bombers.

He had great enthusiasm and pride watching his grand children in the variety of sports in which they participated.

Throughout Bert’s 75 year he forged and kept many great friendships with school friends, hockey parents, curling buddies, fishing buddies and golf buddies.  He will be missed by all that knew him.

Bert will be forever in the hearts of his wife, Lori (Oakley), his much-loved sons Richard (Joanne) and grandson Ty; Keith (Tammie) and granddaughter Kali, stepdaughter Roanna (Dan) Parynuik and grandchildren Morgan and Carter. Stepdaughter Roberta and grandsons Brentt and Brandon.

His brothers and sisters; Laurent (Carole), Lucille (Raymond) Desilets, Benoit (Darlene), Hector (Darlene), Marcel (Anne), Edmond (Julie), Monique (Norman) Smith. As well as many nieces, nephews and their children and cousins. Mother-in-law Irene Leclerc and the Leclerc family. As well as brother-in-laws and sisters-in-laws from Lori’s family.

He was predeceased by his wife Estelle Leclerc (2004) his parents Alma (Lavoie) & Oscar Morissette, Father-in-law, Roland Leclerc, Lori’s mother Daisy Seaman and his grandparents.
