Obituary of Antonio Priolo

April 10, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Antonio Priolo, beloved husband of Elvira Priolo (nee De Rose), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the age of 85 years.

 

Antonio was born July 7, 1937, in Palizzi Superiore, Reggio Calabria, Italy. He immigrated to Calgary in 1954, where he met and married the love of his life Elvira, on October 15, 1960. They spent 62 years building a beautiful life together.

 

Antonio was an engine attendant with CP Rail for 37 years. He enjoyed many travels with his wife and family, camping in his RV, exercising, reading novels, watching classic movies, and playing cards. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends and was proud of the life he built with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Antonio will be most remembered for his quiet, gentle nature and quirky one-liners.

 

He is survived by his loving wife Elvira, his children, Maria (John) Rizzuto, and Laura (Enzo) Pennacchioli; his grandchildren, Stephanie Stewart, Angelo (Laura) Rizzuto, Adriana Pennacchioli (Mary Lofthouse), and Maxine Pennacchioli; his great-grandchildren, James, Emilia, and Gabriella Stewart, Olivia, Giovanni, and Anthony Rizzuto; his brother Salvatore (Linda) Priolo, his sisters, Lila (Tony) Daprocida, and Catherine Daprocida; his sisters-in-law, Anna Priolo, Angela Priolo, and Ida Fusaro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Antonio was predeceased by his parents, Maria Carmela, and Stefano Priolo; brothers, Joseph Priolo, Carmelo Priolo, and Ottavio Priolo; sister Luigia Priolo, brothers-in-law Carmine Fusaro, and Maurino (Filomena) De Rose; sisters-in-law, Adelina (Vincenzino) Pensabene, and Franceschina (Giuseppe) Albanito.

 

The family would like to thank the Palliative Team of Calgary NW, and the Dulcina Hospice for their kind and compassionate care, as well as the loving support from family and friends. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
