Obituary of B. Vaughan Armstrong

August 31, 1935 – Avonlea, Saskatchewan

April 10, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

B. Vaughan Armstrong of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the age of 87 years. As Dad’s passing occurred on the same day as his wife’s (Vivian’s) birthday, the significance was not lost. He had wanted to be together with her since the day she had passed in 2017.

Vaughan had an eye for business and golfing but wasn’t overly excited regarding other sports. Yet these challenges still remained. He’d ask us kids to help teach him the sport (sometimes hours before) so he could participate. And damned if he didn’t come out smelling like a rose. A first or second in slalom comes to mind. He was always willing to put himself out there for office parties and activities.

Vaughan was predeceased by his wife Vivian Anne Muriel Armstrong (nee Easterby) in October of 2017. He is survived by his son Fraser C. Armstrong, his daughter Stacey K. Armstrong, daughter-in-law Patricia Thygesen, grandchildren, Connor, Marlo, Declan; sisters, Sonja and Sherry; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Vaughan was also predeceased by his parents Cecil Rhodes Armstrong and Adella Iona Armstrong (nee Johnson).

Thank you to all those who looked after him at Colonel Beltcher these last years and to all friends and family, thank you for the years of laughter and friendship he had with each and everyone of you.
