Obituary of Georgina Helen Hansen

August 19, 1939 - Winnipeg, Manitoba

April 11, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Georgina (Jeannie) Hansen (nee Robertson) beloved wife of Glen Hansen of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the age of 83 years.

She moved to Calgary, AB, in 1972. Jeannie married Glen in 1973.

She was a member of the various curling clubs, Huntington Hills, Chestermere, North Hill, and many others. Georgina loved curling. With the Manitoba Tuck Slide, Jeannie led her teams to many victories. She passed this love of curling on to her grandchildren. Jeannie was also an avid baseball fan, playing slow pitch and as a score keeper for the Cardinals in their early years.

Jeannie accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her career path.  She loved everywhere she worked from Palm Dairies, Consolidated Bathurst, and Reid Carruthers Engineering, to name a few.

Jeannie most memorable vacation was when she travelled to Mexico with her husband Glen, and her brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Wendy.

Jeannie favourite saying was to her husband Glen “Are your hands painted on?” and she would always say “What are you going to do when I am gone?”

She will be most remembered for her smile and her positive outlook on life.

Besides her loving husband Glen Hansen, Georgina is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Val Farmer from Austin, MB, Vicki and Glen Bodie of Bagot, MB; five grandchildren, Amanda Welsh (Calvin) of Bagot, MB, Joey Farmer (Sarah) of Calgary, AB, Garrett Bodie (Liz) of Bagot, MB, Sasha Bodie (Drew) of Dawson Creek, BC, and Tianna Bodie-Jonasson (Brett) of Austin, MB; four great-grandchildren, Jaelynn, Corbin, Daphne, and Boden; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jeannie was predeceased by her parents Clara and Russel Robertson, brother Barry Robertson, grandson-in-law Patrick, and two great-grandson Zander, and Jayme. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Forest Lawn Legion Branch 275 (755 40 St SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
