March 22, 1928 - London, Ontario

April 13, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Kim Armitage (nee Sanderson) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the age of 95 years.

Kim was born in London, ON, on March 22, 1928. From an early age Kim loved books, art, music, and theatre. After graduating high school Kim attended the Lorne Greene Academy of Radio Arts in Toronto, ON, after which she worked in radio broadcasting at CJBQ  (Belleville) and CKLB  (Oshawa) in the roles of music collections, producer, and the host of a classical/variety music program.  After several years in Belleville, she met Harve, they married in 1953 and moved to Oshawa, ON, where they raised four kids.

At age 52 Kim returned to university and completed a Bachelor of Arts and subsequently a Master of Arts degree at York University.  Before and after her return to university, Kim also worked as an editor, free-lance writer, and part-time instructor at a community college.  Kim moved from Ontario to Calgary in 2004.

Kim is survived by her four children,  Shane of Grande Cache, AB,  Guy (Mary Brereton) of Hudson's Hope, BC,  Kathy (Vince Rosso) of Calgary;  Chris (Janet) of Powassen, ON; her granddaughter Leslie and great-grandson Ryken of Powassen, ON.

Kim had a full and interesting life and enjoyed many hobbies and pursuits.  She was a daughter, student, wife, teacher, friend, radio host, journalist, writer, dreamer, amateur astrologist, neighbor, pet owner, cat sitter, but best of all she was our mom.  Loved in her life, missed in her passing.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the staff at AgeCare Glenmore:  the amazing Care Aides and nursing staff on the Pumphill unit who cared for Kim over these past two years and made her part of their family; and everyone from Recreation, Physio, Dining/Kitchen and Housekeeping who kept her busy, well fed and comfortable.
