Obituary of Keith Jones

Michael “Keith” Jones of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the age of 80 years.

Born in Shrewsbury, England to Harry and Rona (nee Bridgewater) Jones, Keith was very close with his Nana Bridgewater and enjoyed spending time with friends and riding motorcycles in his teens and early twenties. At the age of 28, he immigrated to Canada with his wife Mary, and they settled in Calgary, AB, and had two children together.

Keith worked in construction most of his life; he was a general contractor and owned his own business. One of his proudest accomplishments was taking out and paying off an unheard-of five-year mortgage on his first home. Keith believed Canada to be the most beautiful place in the world. He absolutely loved spending time with family and friends outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed telling jokes, listening to music, and watching hockey, boxing, and old Westerns on TV.

Keith is survived by his son Darren (Emma), daughter Clair (Gary), grandson Jordan (Bryanna), great-grandson Jackson, granddaughter Maegan (Zak), brother Alastair, niece Laura, sister-in-law Kath, nephew Dale, nieces, Zena and Roxanne; sister Melinda (Bruce), nephews, Wayne and Charles, long-time friend Gordon Harris (Kim), and cherished neighbour George Pegoraro (Theresa). He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Rona; and brother Geoff.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

A Celebration of Keith’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
