Celebration of Life
Condolences
I have so many wonderful memories of Simon, having known him since 1979.
We met in Toronto when he joined Montreal Engineering where my late husband Preston worked. They became good buddies.
We followed him to Vancouver with the same company in 1981.
Simon was always there for us/me, I remember his kindness when my husband got sick while they were both working in Calgary. When I rushed to Calgary from Vancouver, there he was, to take me to the hospital, lent me his car and helped me for the time I needed to be there and until Preston recovered.
Thank you Simon for everything. Your wit and sense of humour and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew you, including me.
My condolences to all his lovely family.
Simon's passing has released a flood of memories for both of us of time spent with him at the Royal School of Mines and in South Kensington and Cornwall in the 1960's.
My wife and I have been fortunate to have seen him and Margie many times since then but perhaps the most memorable for us was one of several occasions when they came to stay with us in our Southern Gulf Islands home. Simon resurrected his beloved Hilger and Watts theodolite to be used as a level in establishing the elevation of our well's collar They were two memorable days of friendship for all of us that ended with a great sense of accomplishment I think for Simon, and certainly for me, Alan. His enthusiasm was palpable and clear from the survey notes which we still have.

I often fondly reflect on the marvelous times we all shared tearing around London during our University days, and the all too occasional visits with Simon to his home in the village of Everton to go sailing out of Keyhaven harbor followed by beers and liar dice at the Gun, the latter experiences I never would have if not for Simon.
