Obituary of Emil Adam Schmidt

Emil Schmidt, beloved husband of Dora Schmidt, of Rocky View County, AB, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the age of 87 years.

Emil was born in Tab, Hungary on October 13, 1935, and he immigrated to Canada in 1953. He moved to his acreage near Cochrane, Alberta in 1971 where he lived until he passed.

Emil married Dora Neudorf on August 11, 1962, on the mission complex Schloss Hachenhausen in Germany and joined the staff of the children’s mission home where Dora worked.

He was a member of several churches such as Grace Baptist, Bow Valley Baptist and Hawkwood Baptist where he volunteered in various capacities. He was never afraid to share his faith and convictions. He was a happy person who enjoyed laughter. He was looking forward to the day when God would call him home to Heaven.

Emil graduated from SAIT with a diploma in Sheet Metal Mechanics. He accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of developing new manufacturing equipment for his business.

Emil enjoyed travelling, going to air shows, rodeos and having friends and family over for meals and outdoor activities like family reunions. He enjoyed making large bonfires, building swings over the ravine, various projects at his acreage and having church groups over for outdoor social functions.

Besides his loving wife Dora, Emil is survived by his son Stephen, his daughter and son-in-law, Iris and Blaine Boerchers; and two grandchildren, Brayden, and Evan. Emil is also survived by two brothers, Josef (Trudy) and Franz (Dorothea); and two sisters, Lydia Stork (Adolf), and Tabea Beulshausen (Hans-Jurgen); as well as numerous nieces and nephews with their families.

Emil was predeceased by his parents, Heinrich and Elisabeth; brothers, Heinrich, Johann, William, Rudolf, and Helmut; and sisters, Elisabeth Reimer, and Maria Hilbich.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
