Obituary of Betty Marina Fox

 November 4, 1934- April 19, 2023

Betty Fox (nee Stevens) passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023 at the age of 88 years. Betty was born on a farm in Trenholm, Quebec in 1934. After her father was killed in World War 2 and her younger sister died of scarlet fever, her mother brought her and her two siblings by train to Alberta in 1946.

She graduated from the Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. The close friendships she developed with her classmates lasted a lifetime. She married Richard “Dick” Fox in 1959. They were active members of their McDougall United Church community, and her faith was a strong foundation that guided and supported her.

She loved being a grandma and all the wonderful time shared with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking (her chocolate zucchini cake was a favourite), curling, and getting together with friends over coffee. She was a sweet, kind soul who greeted everyone with a warm friendly smile. She will be most remembered for her hospitality to others, and her strength in bravely conquering whatever challenges arose.

Betty is survived by her daughters Diane (Glen) and Debra, her grandchildren Steven (Kyu-Hi), Sherilyn and David, her great-granddaughter Evelyn, and several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband Dick, her parents Clarence and Thelma, her sisters Verna and Luella, her brother Clifford, and other extended family members.

The family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Wentworth Court/Manor and to her care companion Tabitha.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Church Hall.
