Obituary of Irene Isabel Mary Gibson

March 30, 1934 – Montreal, Quebec

April 20, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Gibson of Calgary, AB, announce her passing on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the age of 89 years.

Irene was born on March 30, 1934, in Montreal, QC. Then moved out west to Calgary, AB, on January 4, 1973.

Irene loved to travel, and without a doubt her favourite place to travel was Hawaii, USA, making her first trip in 1976, and was hooked. We can still smell the coconut oil. Her other trips included Las Vegas, NV, USA, Arizona, USA, Florida, USA, and many cruises to various destinations with family, and friends.

Our family would like to thank the Emergency Room Doctors, and Nurses at South Health Campus Hospital for all their compassion, and care during our mother’s final days.

Irene is survived by her four children, Bill (Kathy) Gibson, Terry Gibson, Kevin (Maureen) Gibson, Bruce Gibson; sister Betty Perez, brother Fred McManus, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Irene was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years James Gibson, and son Jimmy Gibson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
