Obituary of Dustane Tyrone Stephens

Dustane (Saybo) Stephens, was called home by our Creator on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the age of 40 years.

Saybo received his education at Morley School. He was the third eldest of nine kids.  Saybo was a quiet shy person who had a very funny sense of humour once you got to know him.  During his early years, Saybo grew up with a very adventurous childhood with many playmates and sleepovers at his cousins’ homes.  He loved to go quad riding, movies, listening to music, talking on the phone for hours with cousins and friends.  Saybo also loved to cook up a storm in the kitchen but his talent was his art. He was a fantastic artist and told his stories through his art.  Art to him was his purpose. His creativity was his voice through his drawings, Saybo was able to speak.  Saybo always tried to live his life with a good attitude even on the down days.  He always tried to find the humour in everything.  He loved his mom, his brothers and sisters. He was a proud uncle to nieces and nephews and grandkids. 

Saybo will be greatly missed by his mom, Charlene, his brothers, Leroy and Brett; his sisters, Lisa, Lindsay (Cory), Dannette (Toby), Stephanie, Megan (Trent), and Tasheena; his aunties, Melrose, Irene, Carol, Martina, and Jenard; his grandmas, Violet and Madeline; special nephew Dominique Amos and his friend and former common-law wife, Vanessa Jerry as well as the Crawler, Stephens Stevens, Twoyoungmen, Ear, Dixon, Rollinmud, Lefthand, and Bearspaw families. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Dustane was predeceased by his father, Ferlin Crawler; sister, Crystal Stephens; brother, George Stephens; step-brother, Ian Bigcrow; infant nephew, Wendal Rider; maternal grandparents, Alice Stephens and Billy Ear; paternal grandparents, Alma Crawler and Joe Brown Twoyoungmen; aunties, Martha Crawler and Deanna Crawler; uncles, Bud Crawler and Danny Stephens; cousins, Conrad Crawler, Monty Crawler, Rula Crawler, and Larissa Baptiste; brother-in-law, Jeremy Kaquitts; maternal great-grandparents, Bella Stevens and James Stevens; maternal great-great-grandparents, Mary Bear and Moses Bear; and paternal great-great-grandfather George Crawler.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Charlene Stephens (Morley, AB) on Thursday, April 27, 2023 and Friday, April 28, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at Bearspaw Youth Centre (Morley, AB) on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.MHFH.com.
