Diane & Mark
Don't even know where to start with the memories. I started school with Susan and my sister Bobbie started school with Bev.
We walked to school together, often.
On stormy days, we were allowed to take a taxi to pick up the McKellar's and then all of us went on to Royal Charles school.
Susan was quiet and Bev was a "brat," with a smart mouth and an ability to talk her way out of almost any situation.
She and I had a few "go rounds" but laughter always got us through our disputes.
We had a core group of the McKellars, Abbotts, Richards, Gary Cound and McCreight and Lamont Slaney and of course Derek and us, Thompsons.
Others came and went and we thought we were the coolest group around.
Oh my God the schemes and crazy antics we all got into.
There were few dull moments with the imaginations and risk taking that we all were involved in.
Silly things, that seem so innocent, now, but that we thought made us such adventurous "bad asses."
Sneaking cigarettes and dividing a beer between 8 - 15 of us.
Playing strip poker (where rings and shoe laces counted) and making sure that even if we lost all the hands we would never lose our clothes.
We could always count on Beverly for a sarcastic and completely hysterical comment.
The last time I called you, I said, "Hi, there, bitch."
You were taken aback for a second and then gave as good as you got.
We laughed like we always did and that Is what I will always remember about you.
We drove through the mountains one time. Don't even remember where we were going, but I got to ride with you.
We discussed so many things and that is when I saw just how much "the brat" had grown up.
Remember Girls time" in Vegas? What a time we all had.
The earth has lost some one who was sensitive and shy. Ya right Bev, Shy?
She was - and covered it with humour and wit.
She raised her children to have empathy and caring for others, just as she had. AND the quick wit has been passed to another generation, as well.
Bev will be missed by so many who got to feel her love and compassion and of course her (some times) caustic wit.
Bev's bullshit meter was strong and she didn't suffer fools, lightly.
Have been missing you so much, since I first heard that you had left us.
Still have not been able to process just how much I am missing knowing you are no longer in Calgary.
There was always supposed to be another day to have a visit.
Love ya, kiddo. Missing you, always.
