Condolences
In the warm embrace of 1962, we had just returned from serving with NATO forces in France. My husband, Jim, Marion's nephew, was assigned to Winnipeg. Our young family, with our son Brent at 18 months old and Patrick only 3 months old, faced the daunting task of finding a home in a city plagued by a housing shortage. It was during these trying times that I stayed with my parents in Saskatchewan, as Jim had to embark on his new posting. We couldn't afford the frequent trips back and forth for him to visit us.
Jim's father, Joe Krawec, advised him to seek the support of his sister, Marion. When Marion learned of our predicament, she didn't hesitate to open her home to our little family. With her characteristic warmth and generosity, Marion invited us to live with her, Karen, and Jack. Can you believe that? Her kindness provided us with the stability we needed during those uncertain months.
We stayed with Marion and her family for a few months until we eventually found a place of our own. The gratitude I feel for her selflessness is immeasurable. Marion's kind and considerate nature always shone through, and her love for her family was unwavering. Her radiant smile was contagious, spreading joy to everyone around her.
I am grateful to have known such an inspirational woman. Marion's memory will forever be cherished in our hearts, and her legacy of love and compassion will live on through the lives she touched.
Marion was my Great Aunt, and I was honoured to have been in her life. I admired her as a young child as she was so beautiful and fun! At family weddings I used to ask her to dance with me and I was so tickled when she said of course!
As I grew up and I got to know her, she was quite the amazing lady. She was intelligent, interesting and she always knew what was happening in the world of politics. She also was a great storyteller and I loved hearing about her days as a child and as a young woman. Her sense of humour was also to be cherished, and I can still hear her laughter. I will miss you Aunt Marion, you will always be in my heart.
Marion was my grandmother or as I always called her “Dancing Baba.” She loved dancing with me when I was little and being a prominent politicians wife, I always had the cutest clothes and dresses! She was a tremendous woman and although I live in South Carolina now, I can credit my loving the South of the USA due to all the fun times I spent at her condo in North Myrtle Beach in SC as a little girl. I will miss my Baba very much. She definitely was a firecracker personality and not a wallflower! She had spunk and sass! Rest in Peace BAba. We love and miss you but know you had a great life and never wasted a moment of it.
