Obituary of Jorunn Elise Grisdale

Jorunn Grisdale of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the age of 78 years, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Kongsvinger, Norway and moved to Calgary in 1983. She leaves behind the love of her life Dr. William (Bill) R. Grisdale who she met by chance in Norway in 1981, and over the next 40 years, Jorunn and Bill were inseparable. She loved to dance, paint, and travel the world. Some of her favourite memories were when she and Bill would get onto a random bus or train in Paris and see where they ended up. Besides her husband, Jorunn will be greatly missed by her eldest son Morten Aksdal, his children Emilia, Jacline and Aleksander, by her youngest son William (Will) Grisdale, his wife Kayla, and their son Winston, as well as her sister-in-law Brenda LeBlanc (Mike) and the family dog Harley Jakop.

Jorunn is remembered by her friends and family as strong-willed, resilient, thoughtful, and kind.

The family would like to thank the following people: Dr. Todd Remington and all his staff for their years of care, Dr. Christine Gray, Dr. Fareed Kamar and home care nurse Isabella. It was Jorunn’s wish to not have a Memorial Service. Condolences and memories may be shared and viewed here.

In memory of Jorunn Grisdale, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
