Obituary of Carol Evelyn Harcourt-O'Reilly

April 18, 1943 - Nipawin, Saskatchewan

April 29, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Carol Harcourt-O'Reilly (nee Green), beloved wife of Michael Harcourt-O'Reilly, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the age of 80 years surrounded by her family.

Carol was born in Nipawin, SK, on April 18, 1943, and moved to Calgary, Alberta in the mid-sixties. Carol became well known for her easy laugh, quick wit and snappy one-liners. She and Mike met in 1976 and were happily married in 1983.

As a long-time resident of Bowness, Carol loved her time working at Happy Valley Campground, the Bowness Recreation Centre and then at Montgomery Daycare. She was passionate about working with children and being a part of their early development.

Carol loved to bowl, was a champion ping-pong player and that golden touch carried over to the slot machines. In her later years, she loved a good word search and a cold Coors light with family and friends.

Carol had the opportunity to travel and spend time with her family. Some of the most memorable times were at Mara Lake and Atlin, B.C. and most notably her trip to Hawaii with Mike.

Carol enjoyed the company of many cats over the years, her most recent being Marzipan and Dory.

Besides her loving husband Michael Harcourt-O'Reilly, Carol is survived by her daughter Laura Lee Reuter (Cori), of Calgary, Alberta; two foster sons, Ken Horvath and Stuart Daniels (Zoey) of Calgary, Alberta; her two brothers, Archie Green (Kathy), and Mickie Green (Elaine); and three sisters, Marion Lorencz (Frank), Olive Tokaryk (Ron), and Florence Taylor; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Carol was predeceased by her brother Francis Victor aka Chummy Green.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre and the Bow View Manor for their love and care during Carol’s time with them.
