Obituary of Mehranoush Ghahraman

Mehranoush Ghahraman, beloved mother of Borzumehr and Moujan, grandmother of Anousha, beloved sister of Mahgooneh and beloved wife of Farrokh, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the age of 73 years.

Mehranoush was born in Babol, Iran on July 2, 1949, and lived most her adult life in Tehran, Iran. She immigrated to Canada in 2005.

Mehranoush graduated from the University of Tehran with a degree in Journalism and worked as a bright and spirited journalist early in her career. Later, she headed the Department of Administrative Affairs at the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education and later still at the Iran University of Medical Sciences. She was respected, admired, and cherished for her competence and industriousness by all her colleagues and assistants. Mehranoush accomplished much through her life and career and succeeded despite all odds as a free-spirited, independent, and accomplished woman in an environment dominated by closed-mindedness and misogyny in post-revolutionary Iran.

She was passionate about nature, literature, and poetry, and later in life wrote down her impressions in beautiful poetic verses in her own privacy.  
 

Mehranoush was an exceptionally loving and self-sacrificing mother, full of endless love for her children and her grandchild. She was a source of strength, inspiration and blessing for her sisters, parents, all her family, and all those whose lives she touched with kindness and tenderness throughout her life.
