Obituary of Della-Jean Ronaldson Klassen

Della-Jean Klassen of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the age of 100 years.

Della-Jean was born in Chillicothi, Missouri on May 20, 1922. She moved to Canada with her parents when she was three and settled in Zealandia, SK where her mother had family. After graduation she attended Business College in Saskatoon. She was a strong and caring individual with a great sense of humour. She retired in 1988 after working for Corrections Canada for 25 years. That year she received The Corrections Exemplary Service Medal presented by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan recognizing her long and outstanding service. She also received a special thank you from Prime Minister Mulroney for her 25 years of loyal service. After her retirement, she kept herself busy doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and walks downtown meeting up with friends on coffee row in Saskatoon.

Della-Jean is survived by her loving family, daughter Brenda Klassen (David), granddaughter Kelli-Jean Wiese (Bill), great-granddaughter Karley Crowchild (Michael), grandson Ben Cooney (Jessica), and great-grandchildren, Desmond and Teija, all of Calgary; her grandson Robert Clark (Natelle), great-grandchildren, Jessica Mayes (Joe), Ashton Clark (Kaleigh), Madison Clark (Hunter) and great-great-grandchildren, Tristen, Perry, Hudson, Chloe, Oscar and Minnie all of Saskatchewan. Della-Jean was predeceased by her parents, William Whitman Karr (1986) and Isabella Kilgour Karr (Morris) (1984) and her son Wayne in 1990.

The family would like to thank Bethany Care Home in Calgary with the care, kindness, and love given to her in the four years she lived there. Thank you to All About Seniors for providing companionship visits and to McInnis & Holloway staff for their guidance.
