Obituary of Glendon John Vincent

August 28, 1937 – Red Deer, Alberta

May 2, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Glendon Vincent of Airdrie, AB passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the age of 85 years.

Born in Red Deer, he was the oldest child of Fearnley and Evelyn.  School days began at Cumberland and ended at the Lindsay Thurber Composite in Red Deer. Glendon was employed as a Park Warden, by Palm Dairies, in the automotive industry and ended his working days driving trucks back to Canada from various locations in the US. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, proud of his tomatoes and other produce which he generously shared with family, neighbors and friends. He loved sports and cheered faithfully for the Chicago Blackhawks, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the BC Lions. Curling was a favorite pastime in his younger days. He was able to visit the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, see his father’s birthplace in England, fish in Mexico, enjoy the grandeur of Alaska and see many parts of the US and Canada.

Glendon is survived by his son, Danny and his daughter, Gayle, his brother, Keith and four sisters, Donna (Earl), Wilma, Lynn and Delrose (Peter), as well as his brother-in-law, Bill, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Glendon was predeceased by his parents, Fearnley and Evelyn, his sister, Gwen, and his brother-in-law, Elvin.

The family would like to thank Dr. McSorley and the staff at the Dulcina Hospice for their care and compassion. Glendon will be mostly remembered for his generous spirit and willingness to help others and his keen sense of humor - he did love a good laugh.  As a man of faith in God, he spent many hours working with his church community, especially through the “Good Food Box” program and doing various maintenance activities around the church property.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Daybreak Community Church, (2104 Yankee Valley, Airdrie) on Saturday, May 27 at 1:30 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Samaritan’s Purse – Canada, 20 Hopewell Way N.E., Calgary, AB T3J 5H5, Telephone: 1-800-663-6500, www.samaritanspurse.ca.
