Obituary of Delburt Ernest Affleck

December 10, 1934 – Sintaluta, Saskatchewan

Delburt Affleck, beloved husband of Edith Affleck (nee Croft), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

Del was born in Sintaluta, SK, on December 10, 1934, and grew up in Demaine, SK. He earned degrees in History and Education from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Master of Library Science from the University of Washington.

Del and Catherine met while working at Capilano College in the late 1960s and married in Vancouver in 1969. In 1978, they moved to Regina with their three children. He retired from a 20-year career at the University of Regina in 1998. 

Del accomplished much throughout his life. He was a teacher, principal, and librarian, as well as a farmer, environmentalist, and pioneer of organic agriculture. Most of all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband and father.

Besides his loving wife Catherine, Del is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Chris Hall of Calgary; son Ian Affleck and his fiancee Miriam Brown of Chilliwack; son and daughter-in-law, David and Willow Affleck of Missoula; and ten grandchildren. Del is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Del was predeceased by his sister Jean Greffard, and his parents Lydia and Roy Affleck.
