Obituary of Dusty Jonathan Lee Dixon
August 30, 1981 – High River, Alberta
May 3, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, father and brother, Dusty Jonathan Lee Dixon, born August 30, 1981, in High River, Alberta, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in Calgary, AB at the age of 41.
Dusty was a proud father of two handsome boys, Dominic and Travis, and four beautiful daughters, Julianna, Braelyn, Jayna and Mykayla; and his only grandchild, Atlyn (Addie). He is survived by his mother, Theresa Dixon (Sheldon); father, Terry Lefthand (predeceased May 8, 2023); the brother of Toby, Sylvester and Logan (Evoni); and five sisters, Brenna (Cody), Christy, Terrilynn, Elizabeth (Kai), and Ravin.
He leaves to mourn behind his adopted parents, Debbie and Late Tom Dixon, and Bob and Brenda Lefthand; uncles, Allie (Roxanne) Lefthand, Darcy (Kathy) Dixon, Bruce Dixon and Oliver Lefthand; his adopted uncle Winston Bear, his aunties, Retha Lefthand, Diane (Myron) Dixon, Corrina Dixon, Tammy Dixon, grandmas, Dorothy Runner, and Patsy (Jerry) Simon, adopted grandma Caroline Atcheynum and Cole Runner.
His adopted brothers were, Cameron Lefthand, Buddie Dixon, Dieter Shade, Marvin Abraham, Dallas Dixon, and Reggie Rider. Special father-in-law, Dwayne Lefthand and his special uncle Corey Jim.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Don Dixon and Margaret Dixon Runner, and his paternal grandparents, Neil Dixon and Eunice Lefthand; grandmothers, Edna, Ella and Dorothy Dixon. He is also predeceased by his uncles Tom Dixon, Joey Rabbit, Casey Dixon, Homer Dixon; his aunties, Verda Daniels, Loretta Lefthand, Corrina Dixon; cousins, Jason Daniels, Kash Dixon, Ty Crawler, Karlene Lefthand, Tracella Lefthand, Verlin Curtis (Kamut) Poucette, and Tyrone Poucette.
Relatives from Morley, Eden Valley, Tsuu T'ina Nation, Big Horn, Paul Band, Blood Tribe, Piikani Nation,Siksika Nation and relatives from Saskatchewan.

Dusty was raised on the Eden Valley Reserve, and he attended elementary school up to grade four in Longview and then he attended the Eden Valley Day School for grade five and six, he then spent a half a year at Oil Fields Junior High. After that, he moved to Morley and attended school at St. Timothy’s in Cochrane until after grade ten. He received his grade twelve diploma at Bow Valley College. He went into training and received his security certificate from Hilltop Security in Calgary. Recently he received his heavy equipment operating license in Olds, AB. He also enrolled at SAIT in the pipefitting program, and he was apprenticed by Cyril Gregory and Kurt McDougall and he worked along side Collin Gustafson with the Eden Valley Housing department. He recently enrolled with Hampton College in the addictions and mental health program; his passion was to become an addictions counsellor.
Dusty valued his Stoney Nakoda traditional way of life and culture by attending ceremonies, and enjoyed playing sports, hockey, football, baseball, and volleyball. In the summertime he loved to hunt, fish, swim, horseback ride, and pick wild herbs and berries. He was very proud to be called Dad and Ade.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Theresa and Sheldon, (Eden Valley, AB) on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at Eden Valley Hockey Arena on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Valley Cemetery (Eden Valley, AB). A feast will follow the graveside service at the residence of Theresa Dixon. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
