Obituary of Jess Denton

Jessica “Jess” Denton, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the age of 18 years. Jess was born in Calgary, AB, to parents Andrew “Andy” and Reshma Denton.

 

Jess graduated from Discovering Choices and was an Honor Roll student. She had been accepted into McGill University, Mount Royal, and the University of Calgary for various degrees.

 

Jess competed as a Skier. Jess won medals for her racing. Jess’s most memorable vacation was when she went to Austria with the NASA Ski Club. Jess’s other memorable vacations were visiting her grandparents in Trinidad, and England.

 

Jess accomplished much through her short life and was particularly proud of her gold medals at the Alberta Winter Games in 2018 in Fort McMurray, AB.

 

Jess is survived by her daughter Rose Steward, father of her child Jaden Steward; her parents Andrew and Reshma; two sisters Emily, and Arianna; grandparents Jankee and Boney Ragoonanan as well as her aunts and uncles, Victoria Jones (Martin Jones); Renzi Ragoonanan (Cindy Babwah), Robin (Michelle) Denton; cousins Christopher, and Ashley Babwah; and friends. Jess was predeceased by her grandparents John and Marjorie Denton.

 

Jess was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Jessica’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
