Liz Fox

Obituary of Liz Fox

October 19, 1949 – Brantford, Ontario

May 22, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Elizabeth Anne Fox, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the age of 73 years.

Liz was predeceased by her wonderful parents, George and Anna Fox. She was a beloved grandmother to many grandchildren: Leo, Everett, Cody, Dakota, Sayde, Aleinah, Leighton, Deyna, Harold, and Frida. Liz is survived by her four children, Carolyn (Heriberto), Christina (Jeff), Justin (Evy), and Jordan (Alannah). She was the loving sister of Andrew (Janice) and Debbie (Peter).

After graduating from the London Teachers’ College in London, Ontario on June 24, 1970, Liz went on to teach Kindergarten classes in Nobel and Etobicoke, Ontario. She was also a summer Camp Counsellor at Camp Tapawingo and Camp Hollyburn. Upon moving to Alberta, Liz shifted into the role of Motherhood and dedicated the rest of her life to lovingly raising her four children.

Music played a major role in Liz’s life. She grew up in a very musical home, her father a composer and her mother a singer. She sang in her father’s church choir and participated in many theatre performances, including her favourite, “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” starring as Lucy. During her time in Alberta, she was a member of the Knox United Church Choir, the Symons Valley United Church Choir, and the Airdrie Community Choir. She also conducted a children's choir (The Northern Lights) as well as an all-ladies’ choir (Staying Tuned). Her travel adventures took her to places such as Bermuda, St. Maarten, Nassau, and Mexico, but she always felt most at home spending the spring and summer months close to her Ontario family and friends at her cottage on Lake Muskoka.

Liz’s greatest passions were music, laughter, family, and friendship. She thoroughly enjoyed creating art through coloring, taking in a good movie, dozing off to her favorite television programs in her easy chair, delicious food, swimming, and admiring the flowers in her garden with a cold iced tea in hand. She had a great sense of humour, a flare for style, and practiced kindness everyday, never hesitating to lend a helping hand to those who needed it.

Liz will be most remembered for her big heart.
