Lillian Leskiw

Obituary of Lillian Betty Leskiw

August 17, 1935 - Smokey Lake, Alberta

May 4, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Lillian Leskiw (nee Danyluk) passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years on Thursday, May 4, 2023, surrounded by her family in hospice care.

Early in her life, Lillian moved to Edmonton.  It was at a mutual friend's wedding where she met Harry, who became her devoted husband of 63 years. Together, they raised two daughters, Sheryl and Janet, and created an event filled life. They lived and worked in Montreal and overseas in Europe, built a beloved summer cabin in Sylvan Lake, volunteered with the food bank, and pursued hobbies such as gardening, cooking, playing at the casino, taking courses, and raising family pets.

Despite her travels, Lillian considered Calgary her favorite city in the world and was content to retire there. Her warmth, cheerfulness, and ability to light up a room endeared her to many. Lillian’s favorite stories were of new friends who made her gifts or baking, shared their interesting world ideas, or purchased an impromptu coffee or drink for her at the casino.   With Harry's passing in 2021, the family finds comfort in the thought of Lillian and Harry being reunited.

We invite you to honor Lillian by listening to her favorite lullaby, "Remember Me." She has joined prior loved ones that have passed, parents Helen and Steve; husband Harry, siblings Mary, Mike, Anne, Victoria, and Sandy; and pets Tara and Winnie. Lillian is survived by her daughters Sheryl and Janet; siblings Ken (RoseAnne), Olivia, and Sylvia (Dennis), and many nieces and nephews.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your unforgettable spirit and the joy and light you brought into our lives will always be cherished. Please join us in celebrating her life at Renaissance Condos at North Hill Mall – Rembrandt Room (1718 14 Ave NW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 2:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
