Obituary of David George Ward

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of David Ward on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, of Calgary, AB, at the age of 63 years.

David was born in Calgary, AB, on March 28, 1960. He was the fifth child in a family of nine children. Growing up, David was a mischievous child who liked to play pranks and scare his younger siblings and cousins. He liked to wrestle with his siblings growing up. He enjoyed making others laugh and having fun with family and friends.

As an adult, David worked in plumbing and heating for Bud Larue, who was a dear family friend who looked out for all the boys. He enjoyed going to Drumheller and Wayne, AB with Bud, to visit, have a beer and just take in the sights of where his parents grew up. 

David enjoyed going for walks with his dog Snoopy in his younger years and later, just going on his own. Although he didn’t marry and have children, family was his passion. He looked forward to visiting with his mom, grandmother, and siblings whenever he could. 

His favorite color was blue, and he tried to make sure all his clothes and anything he bought was blue. David was an extremely clean person and was always tidying up his place, washing his dishes right away and putting his stuff away, he did not like clutter.

As an adult, he still had a mischievous side to him and still enjoyed playing harmless, fun pranks on family and friends. He loved to laugh and joke around. He enjoyed spending time with and visiting his good friend Michael who will also miss him dearly. He looked forward to calls and visits from his sisters in his later years.

David was truly loved, and we hope he knows how much as we are truly heartbroken with his passing.

David is survived by his three brothers, Perry, Miles, and Shawn, two sisters, Rhonda, and Kari, and their respective spouses, all of Calgary, AB; his Aunt Edna of SK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

David was predeceased by his parents, Ken Ward in June 1983, and Madeline Ward in April 2016; siblings, Lori in June 1961, Gordon in February 1984, and Kenny in December 2013; grandparents, Fred Cayenne in February 1958, and Maeline Cayenne in November 1988.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Cremation and a family graveside service will take place at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
