Obituary of Florence Therese Johanna Hunt

Florence Hunt beloved wife of the late Donald Hunt of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the age of 95 years.

Florence was born in Macklin, SK on March 12, 1928. Florence graduated high school in Macklin and a year later moved to Edmonton where she met and married Don Hunt in 1949. For much of Florence’s life she was a caregiver to her youngest daughter, Megan, while living in various towns in Alberta. In 1989, Florence and Don settled into the home she would remain in until 2023.

Florence had a passion for painting and was most proud of the paintings she had done for people in Czechoslovakia. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and at the centre in Horizon Village. Florence travelled to Shuswap Lake in British Columbia every summer to stay in their family cabin. At the cabin, she enjoyed painting, reading, and visiting with family and friends.

Florence is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Laurel, Leslie, and Bryan; her granddaughter Deanna, her two great-grandchildren, Ella and Weston; all residing in and around the Calgary area, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Florence was predeceased by her husband Donald, her children, Lee and Megan; her parents, and her three sisters, Ethel, Gertrude, and Isabel.

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
