Obituary of Laura Geraldine “Gerry” Barlow

Gerry passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Gerry was born in Empress, AB to Hannah (Mollie) and David Lush. After finishing high school, she attended Olds College. Upon graduation in 1948 Gerry moved to the big city (Calgary) where she remained for the rest of her life. In 1959 she married Charles Barlow, Jr. They were together for 63 years until he passed in 2022. They were predeceased by three of their children, Clinton, Cheryl, and Chuck.
During her years in Calgary Gerry supported multiple start-up businesses including Canadian Mountain Holidays, Maloney Steelcrafts Ltd., and WestJet. She always spoke fondly of her time with Chinook Stables as well as Gascan Corp. Gerry was always grateful for the opportunities she had to work with wonderful people and make so many lifelong friendships.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Anglican Parish of Christ Church in Elbow Park (3602 8 Street SW, Calgary) on Wednesday, June 14 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life reception at The Ranchmen’s Club (710 13 Ave SW, Calgary) at 4:00 p.m. Those unable to attend the service are welcome to join for the reception. Please check the Ranchmen’s website for the dress code (www.ranchmensclub.com/dress-code). Parking at the Ranchmen’s is extremely limited, carpooling is strongly recommended.
Due to covid restrictions in place at the time, the family was unable to host a funeral service for either Charles or Chuck when they passed. The June 14 service will include prayers for each of them. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
