Condolences
From neighbourhood hockey games on Cape Breton bogs to life in Calgary, Alberta, it would have been rare to see a Stephenson without a Burke wingman. Our families were close in age and friendship, adding 23 names to the attendance roll at St Agnes. Finding bodies to play team sports or for “extracurricular” activities was never an issue. Our childhoods were intertwined, enriched and tempered by our close associations. You never walked alone when you had each other to count on. This was so valuable in our early adulthood as many of us made our way to Alberta. We knew there was always a door open and a place to stay when we followed the Stephensons to Calgary. They gave us a leg up when we needed it most for which we will always be grateful.
Ron, Art, Eddie, you will always be remembered as the best of friends.
Sincerest condolences to the Stephenson family.
Regards,
Anthony “Tony” Burke
Heartfelt condolences to the Stephenson family on the loss of Eddie. May he RIP.
Condolences to the Stephenson Family on Eddie's passing. May he RIP.
So sorry to read of Eddie's passing. Gone too soon. Hugs to all the family. May he rest in peace
Eddie had a strong belief in God and in union solidarity. He loved sports and derived a lot of pleasure from watching when he could no longer take part. He helped a lot of younger people get on their feet in the workplace. We will miss him but know he is with “The Big Fella” Sheldon and Aleah
One of my cousins I remember from growing up in New Waterford and visiting in Calgary when I lived in far Northern Saskatchewan==our family (Joe Margaret and us kids) visited often with his family and he was a great cousin growing up--May God comfort his family
What a wonderful picture of Eddy.So many memories of him while growing up in our great neighborhood,Eddy was a kind soft hearted man who always kept his love for his Cape Breton routes. One more trip home Eddy and you will be back with us again.Love to all the family at this sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
