Obituary of Jenny Ming Yu Hung

July 23, 1948 – Hong Kong, China

May 8, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Jenny Ming Yu Hung (née Ho), beloved mother of Vivian, Patricia, and Stephen, passed away in Calgary on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the age of 74 years.

Jenny was born in Hong Kong on July 23, 1948. She graduated from Kau Yan College in Hong Kong in 1967 and worked at HSBC for several years before moving to Calgary, Alberta in 1976.

After immigrating to Canada, Jenny pursued a career of 40 years in the banking sector. She proved herself as a dedicated and trusted member of Scotiabank, Montreal Trust, and Computershare. Her work around money likely inspired her hobby of coin collecting.

In retirement and during her holidays, she thrilled in travelling around the world, touring throughout Canada and the United States, Western Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Taiwan, Brazil, Argentina, United Arab Emirates, Australia, and New Zealand. She also contributed back to the community through volunteerism.

One of Jenny’s joys was to bring together friends and family during a game of Mah Jong or over a Chinese meal. During quieter times, you could find her indulging in TV dramas and video chatting with her beloved grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her genuine consideration, dedication, kindness, and thoughtfulness to her loved ones and all of those around her.

Jenny is survived by her husband, Will, her daughters, Vivian Hung (Quentin Glabus), Patricia Choy-Hung (Victor Choy); her son Stephen Hung (Jade Huynh-Hung) and her four adored grandchildren, Kai Glabus, Harrison Choy, Isabelle Choy, and Iris Hung. Jenny is also survived by her siblings Elsie Leung, Esther Tam, Doris Ho, Larry Ho (Brenda Ho), and Adeline Fung (Anthony Fung), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and friends. Jenny was predeceased by three sisters in Hong Kong (eldest sister Liu Ming Ping), and brothers-in-law Liu Hon Nam, Frank Leung, and Ken Tam.
