Obituary of Garry Harold Perks

February 2, 1933 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

May 9, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garry Perks, 90, a wonderful husband, loving dad, tremendous papa, and father to many others. Also known to many as “Uncle Coke”.

 

Garry was born on February 2, 1933, in Saskatoon, SK. The best birthday present his mom could receive. He met his loving wife Katherine in Saskatoon and married on June 11, 1955. They had their daughter and lived in Saskatoon until he was transferred to Calgary where he made Calgary their home. He worked at Coca-Cola for close to 40 years. Garry previously worked for the railway, a taxi company, and as a bouncer.

 

Garry was predeceased by his wife Kay, in 2008, his parents, aunts, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, two nieces, one nephew, one great-niece, one great-great-niece, and cousins. Garry is survived by his daughter Melody, son-in-law Sheldon, grandchildren, Shelby (Brendan and puppy Mila), and Jayson. Also, by their loving dog, Gigi, his companion; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Garry’s honour at the Deer Run Community, (2223 146 Ave SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held in Saskatoon at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos can be shared and viewed here.
