Obituary of Darrol Calvin Shortneck

August 10, 1955 - May 10, 2023

With his family by his side, Darrol Shortneck, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the age of 67 years.

Darrol was a traditional pipe carrier, and Sundance maker. He loved hunting, traditional sweat lodges, camping and spending time with his family.

Darrol will be missed by his loving wife of 48 years Ina; his children, Kelly (Heather), Curtis, Darrellen (Gabe), and Lillian (Ivan); his twenty-two grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his brother John Wesley, sister Marie Shortneck; sister-in-law Annie Wesley; his auntie Emily Firingstone and her family from Louis Bull Alberta; his adopted parents Martin and Eva Iron Bull;  his adopted daughters, Latoya Powderface and Marika Twoyoungmen; and adopted sons, Lee Rider and Newton Poucette.

We apologize if we have missed anyone, as he had a large extended family and many friends.

Darrol was predeceased by his parents Joe and Marjorie Shorthneck; his brothers David and Garrett; sister Evelyn; his children Delina Poucette, Joey Poucette and Charlie Shortneck; and granddaughters, Keesha Crawler, Farrallen Poucette and Aishlyn Poucette.

The family wish to send a special thank you to the Stoney Health Center Home Care Nurses for their care and support during this time.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Ina Poucette (Two Rivers, AB) on May 18, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at the residence of Ina Poucette (Two Rivers, AB) on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 12:00p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
