It was always a pleasure getting to work with Sandy. Her love of the zoo was infectious and she always made people happier. Will miss her!
I had the pleasure of knowing Sandy during our time at the zoo together... she was a ray of sunshine and was always happy to be volunteering with Sheldon or the penguins. She is very missed.
Our condolences to Sandra’s family and friends. We became neighbours with Sandra in 2020 and always looked forward to our exchanges. We will miss her, especially her smile and positivity.
I have fond memories of volunteering with Sandy in penguins. My condolences to her family and friends.
My sincere condolences to Bob & Nicole as well as their extended family on the passing of Sandy. She was a dear friend of mine from the time we were small children living on the same street & throughout high school & our adult lives.
I will miss having her in my life & she will always be in my heart & in my memories.
The zoo was always a better place on the days that Sandy was there. She made the world a better place by being in it. Condolences to her family and many friends.
Sandy was one of the first volunteers I met and the zoo and we shared our love of walking Sheldon for 15 years, discussing how active he was and what he did that day. Her beautiful smile and laughter will be missed.
Sending heartfelt condolences to the Babush family. Sandra was my sister Lorraine's bestie from childhood. They grew up together and had a very special friendship all those years. So as the youngest in the family, I got know Sandy. I do remember her being in the parade one year and was so proud of her. I hadn't seen Sandy for a few years and one day when we were at the zoo with our kids, we ran in to her, as she was walking Sheldon, the turtle. We chatted for a few minutes and instantly reconnected. That is my favourite memory of Sandra. Most recently, Sandy generously supported a cause that I fundraise and cycle for children's cancer. She was a very special lady. It seems most fitting that now I can donate to a cause that was close to her heart.
Our sincere condolences to all the family. I remember the fun times that our families would have together during the holidays or at Lithuanian picnics at the Nevada family. It was the first time that I found out where milk really came from. I also enjoyed the Babush picture nights when Sandy would share pictures and stories of her adventures in Africa; our popcorn bowls were always full. Sandy was the most thoughtful & generous person that I know, she will be missed by all. Goodbye my friend!
My deepest condolences to the Babush family. Sandy was one of the most caring, vivacious people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. I was lucky to work with her at the zoo over the past number of years, and every time we spent time together, she would brighten my day with stories of Tigger or an amazing new animal fact she had learned. The world is dimmer without Sandy in it, and I know she will be remembered fondly by everyone who got the chance to know her.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone that visited Sandy during her illness. Your visits brought comfort, solace, and some levity to Sandy, as well as to all of us who were gathered together. The healthcare workers were always impressed by the number of visitors coming by the spend time with her.
Your presence and support meant the world to both Sandy and our entire family.
Sincere sympathy to your family. Sandy fought so hard against this vicious disease. She was a wonderful caring friend and will be deeply missed by us all.
