Obituary of Richard Keith McLennan

February 16, 1934 - Winnipeg, Manitoba

May 12, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Dick McLennan of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023, at the age of 89 years. He was born in Winnipeg and later moved to Calgary.

Dick is survived by his children, Sue Dalby (Thomas), Sharon Shewchuk (James) and Richard McLennan (Crystal). He is also survived by his younger sister, Carole Luft (Ray), and grandchildren, Stacy, Laura, Stephanie, Kyle, and Thomas; as well as great-grandchildren, Lillian, Lyric, Lewis, and Audrey.

He was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Thomas, his brother Thomas and Dick’s beloved wife Sally (Barbara Joan).

Dick met his adored wife in his early 20’s in Calgary where they married in 1958 and enjoyed a loving marriage. They raised their family on Fawn Crescent where they lived for forty years and made life-long friends. Dick coached boys’ hockey and his daughters’ baseball teams. Dick and Sally were 10-pin bowlers and enjoyed travelling throughout North America to tournaments and events and made wonderful friends through this sport. Dick was employed as a materials controller for his career, the majority with Stearns & Rogers, retiring in his late 40’s.

A viewing will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday May 17, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be no funeral as per Dick's wishes, but a family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
