Obituary of Mary Wormsley

June 25, 1946 – May 15, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Mary Wormsley, on May 15, 2023. A mom to anyone who needed one, a compassionate Nana, a loyal friend, a devoted wife, and self-proclaimed matchmaker.

Mary grew up in Calgary, AB. After graduating from Queen Elizabeth High School in 1966, her big adventures began! Her first love was her horse ‘Big Red’ she had Big Red for many years and had many fond memories with him. Mary loved traveling to Hawaii whenever she was able as well as numerous other excursions where she shared her light and love of life with everyone she met.

While working as a collections agent at AGT during the 1970s, she gained many lifelong friends. In 1978, she met and married the love of her life, Terry ‘Ice-Man’ Wormsley. Shortly after saying their, I-do’s, they started their beautiful family and lived in NW Calgary until 1997 when they moved out to Cochrane. It is here they lived their best days, creating lifelong friendships and cultivating a welcoming environment for anyone to stop by.

Mary is predeceased by her parents, James and Alice Mitchell, Brother Ernie Mitchell, and her loving husband Terry Wormsley, along with many cherished friends.

Mary is survived by her sister Beverly Garrow, her daughters, Holly Wormsley and Tara Jones and son Sean Silverstein, and grandchildren Sean Jr Silverstein, Cody Silverstein, Savanna Silverstein, and Sawyer Jones; as well as the many, many people who touched her life through the years. Mary's definition of family was so very broad, and she loved her family so very much.

We welcome you to join us for a celebration of Mary’s life at the Cochrane Legion on Saturday June 10th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., with a toast in her honor to follow at the Rockyview Hotel Texas Gate Bar & Grill. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
