Condolences
Terri was a great lady with a wide smile that was genuine. I saw Terri 2x a week in 2020 and then it was zoom zoom with the walker everywhere! We never stayed long in any activity expect when they had church service at the facility. Terri words were not so jumbled and always loved the picture of her "poppa" as it was displayed on the wall where Terri could see it. Sometimes if I wasn't fast enough she would turn back and say, "come on" Terri had a great sense of humor and we would laugh at all sort of things. One of the residents friend had a puppet "Sammy" and Terri loved to see him!, and would touch him especially his cowboy boots. Sometimes Terri and I looked at photo albums luckily Eloise had labelled all the photos with names besides them. After Covid I began to see Terri again 2021/2023. It was about 2 years? Terri remembered me when I walked up to her. Terri gave me the biggest smile and chatted away to me as I missed a lot of time, and I needed to chat up on what was going on with her. Even in a wheelchair Terri used her feet to move around, and we walked up and down the hallways and sometimes Terri would hold my hand or put her head on my shoulder.
To my beloved friend of 43 years. I hope the family finds peace in knowing what a gem Ms Gorieu was to me. Never an unkind word spoken from her lips. Always looking for the good in people and situations. A rare jewel she was. R.I.P. Terri. You will not be forgotten.
I always remember her teaching Brownies and Guides. I especially remember sitting at her piano playing while I sung Good Morning Sunshine to obtain my music badge. Great lady and also a good neighbour.
Wonderful memories of your mother & family as next door neighbours in Fort St. John, BC - especially Christmas baking & the candy cane cookies. While at University of Alberta in 1966 we happened to meet & I was invited to dinner that fall where I met the young boys. Evelyn & Lorraine were away & I apologize I do not remember if Eloise & Genevieve were there. Later (? 1968-1970) we met on the bus a few times & shared conversations.
May family & friends find strength in prayer & memories.
One of my memories of Terri is how often she was smiling. She was an extrovert and enjoyed connecting with people. Terri lived a long, full life, similar to her father. We offer our sincere condolences to her family here on earth. We offer our congratulations for celebration of Terri reuniting with family who have preceded her to the spiritual world.
Terri will always have a special place in my heart . She was kind, thoughtful, graceful and warm I rarely heard a cross word spoken from her through out my years of knowing her. I will treasure that time and alway remember the relationship we shared as precious. Grandma Gorieu ,as she was known to my three children will carry fond , loving memories of their Grandma throughout their lives . May she rest in peace and love and I believe she is now reunited with her loved ones in heaven sharing a laugh and a giggle catching up . We will miss her dearly. Jackie Ecclestone
