Obituary of Andrew Hanson Hyslop

Andrew Hanson Hyslop passed away on October 20, 2023 at the age of 74 years in Calgary.

Andrew was a Stampede baby born in Calgary on July 7, 1949, to Ruth and Craig Hyslop. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick with an arts degree in 1972 and from the University of Alberta with a law degree in 1976. He worked in private practice in Red Deer before joining the Petro-Canada in 1981 where he worked for 28 years.

In 1981, he married the love of his life, Barb. He enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, and camping. After retirement, he took up painting and had several successful exhibitions. He and Barb enjoyed travelling; Tahiti was a favorite destination. In 2013 he and Barb built a house near Silverton, BC in the Slocan Valley where they enjoyed many summers. A life well lived.

Andrew was predeceased by his parents, Craig and Ruth Hyslop. He is survived by his wife Barb, his sisters, Hope of Kamloops and Marion Kaufman of Manchester, UK; and his brothers, Mark (Margaret) and Allen of Kamloops.

A Virtual Celebration of Andrew’s Life will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join Andrew’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
