Obituary of Don A Coull

March 7, 1943 - Gananaque, Ontario

May 19, 2023 - Cochrane, Alberta

Don Coull beloved husband of Marilyn Coull (nee Motyer) of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the age of 80 years.

Don was born in Gananaque, Ontario on March 7, 1943. Don’s father was in the military and home was a base in Kingston, Edmonton, Victoria, or Calgary throughout his childhood. As a child he loved being outside discovering the wildlife, and had a special fondness for Red Rock, an area near the base in Kingston.

Don married Marilyn in 1970. Together they enjoyed driving in the country, taking photographs, and being outdoors.

Don was particularly proud of his photography. He photographed nature, animals at Al Oeming’s Alberta Game Farm, local celebrities and events, and artistic pieces. He built a photo lab in the basement, where he would bring his art to life.

Don loved nature, wildlife, and being outside. His favourite memories were of his travels throughout BC and to Vancouver Island. When he bought his acreage in Leduc, he enjoyed building up the property, enjoying the Alberta landscape, feeding a large array of birds (and wildlife) and riding and maintaining his many tractors.

He will be most remembered for his willingness to help others.

Besides his loving wife, Don is survived by his daughter Allison (Jim) and three grandsons: Kevin, Kyle (Shaelynn), and Quinn. Don is also survived by his sister Sara, and brother Ken (Lorraine), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Don was predeceased his parents, Alex and Kathleen Coull, and sister Joan Duke.

As per Don’s wishes a private service will be held. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Don Coull, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB T4C 2E2, Telephone: 403-932-4740.
