Obituary of Colleen Dorscher

May 4, 1939 - Lacombe, Alberta

May 24, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Yvonne “Colleen” Dorscher, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the age of 84 years.

Colleen was born in Lacombe, AB on May 4, 1939. She loved gardening, cooking/baking, curling, playing cards, and was a social butterfly who hosted wonderful parties. She made every holiday and occasion a special celebration and was the queen of sending greeting cards. She was a natural caregiver who showed compassion and care for others through her career as a Licenced Practical Nurse, something she was very proud of. She loved to travel with her husband and dear friends, but what she loved most was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Colleen married her loving husband of almost 66 years, Elvin, on September 20, 1957. Together, Colleen and Elvin created a beautiful life full of love and adventure. Grandma loved to spoil her grandkids (human and fur) who are blessed with many memories of her attending every concert/recital/sporting event possible, cruises and ski trips, and countless family dinners and games nights where she often, snuck up from behind and won.

Besides her loving husband, Colleen is survived by her son Darcy (Anastassiya); granddaughters, Reanna (Ryan), Linzy (Patrick), Trista (Andrew), and Melissa; grandsons, Leon and Milan; and great-grandson Noah. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Doreen and Diane; her daughters-in-law, Shelley and Carol; and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Colleen was predeceased by her daughter Gail and son Barry, who she is joyfully reunited with in heaven.

Colleen will be laid to rest in Edmonton at a private family ceremony. We invite all family and friends to join us for a Celebration of Life, at St. Thomas United Church (100 Hawkwood Blvd. NW) on Monday, June 12, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church.
