Obituary of Anne Romanzin
May 20, 1929 - May 27, 2023
Anne Romanzin, a strong, sweet, and compassionate woman, died on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the age of 94.
Anne was born on May 20, 1929, in the Bridgeland district of Calgary, AB, where she spent her formative years, attending Stanley Jones elementary, and Crescent Heights High school. Always good with numbers, she led payroll for Imperial Oil where she met Nillo in the company bowling league. They were married August 18, 1951, at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. Stephen in Calgary, AB, and shared their lives together for the next 55 years. She and Nillo moved to Dawson Creek and Peace River for 13 years where they raised their young family and endured harsh winters before returning to Calgary, AB, in 1965.
One of Anne’s passions was playing bridge, through which she made many lifelong friends, and she became a Life Master in 1984. She loved the company of others and was always up for a game or a drink with friends. Anne was a devoted Catholic, and an active member of the church throughout her life.
Anne was a great mother to four sons, Robert, Gerald, David, and Chris; two daughters-in-laws, Valerie, and Dawn; and five grandchildren, Quinn, Garrett, Cayla, Metea, and Danica.
Anne was predeceased by her parents Alex and Helen Karol, her loving husband Nillo Romanzin, her brother Mike, and her sister Marie. Even in her final days she never complained, and put other people’s needs above her own. Anne will be dearly missed.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to The Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood or to the Salvation Army Canada who were her favorite charities.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
