We met Helen when she moved in next door about 20 years ago. It was a pleasure to have such a cheerful, friendly and kind neighbour. The tragic accident which completely transformed her life and left her in a wheelchair took place not too long after she had moved in. Helen held on to her home as long as possible hoping to return. Sadly, she was not able to be on her own and spent the rest of her life at a long-term care facility. Although devastated, somehow, she did the best she could to accept what she could not change with love and courage, always radiating her beautiful spirit of joy and selflessness. As soon as she could, she became engaged with many activities including art classes, sports, shopping, visiting with family and friends, season tickets to the Jack Singer Concert Hall and much more. Such an inspirational example of a life well lived. An amazing blessing to so many. Rest in peace dear friend.

Helen was my friend! She had a great sense of humour and always made me chuckle at her witty one liners. I loved hearing her stories about growing up on a farm. She had a beautiful smile and she was so nice to be around. I will miss her.
