Dear Christine and Family
Our thoughts and Prayers are with you all at this difficult time. May you find comfort with one another and know that Rod was loved and respected by many people. I will always remember him during branding at the ranch and how he was in his glory being a cowboy. He touched many lives and was always interested in what was happening in their lives. I always thought it was wonderful how he asked about my sisters and how they were doing, he always mentioned how he enjoyed his visit with my mom and dad when he was in Fernie. Rod was a very caring and loving man; he will be missed as he was the life of the party.,
Christine and family:
Rene and I are searching for words to express our shock and sorrow upon learning of Rod's sudden passing. I met Rod over 45 years ago through our mutual interest in horses and riding. Rod was a true and much valued friend and a long term member of the "Elbow Valley Board". This group of friends met on a regular basis over the years for lunch and we always had great conversations and a lot of laughs. Rod achieved so much in his lifetime and he left us far too soon. We mourn his loss and send heartfelt condolences to you and the family.

I have many fond memories of Rod at the Calgary Stampede. He would sail into the Brand Room for lunch and visit every table to chat before picking his own. A big laugh, a big smile, that was Rod. Christine, I and many others in the oilfield were shocked at Rod’s passing. He and I worked successfully together on many drilling projects for 20 plus years. Rod loved being a salesman and it suited him well being the outgoing person he was. As mentioned his pride and joy was “family” and we extend our condolences to all of them. Sadly missed and many memories together. Sam and Norma.

Christine and family, We are so saddened to have learned that Rod suddenly passed away this week. Passionate, engaged and vibrant, Rod was a force in the community in so many ways and facets, leaving a huge gap in our hearts. His involvement with STARS was extraordinary and not to be forgotten. We send our hugs and sympathies to all of you. Greg and Linda Powell
My wife Jan and I have known Rod and Christine for many years through family acquaintances and Rod and I were fierce (yet friendly) competitors in the oil and gas sector many years ago, but we always found time to set aside business and work together on common causes such as STARS, Canadian Oilmens Association, PSAC, and hanging out at a charitable golf tournament or two. Always ready with big smile and a “How the hell are ya” hug, always a toothpick near by and readymade passion for good jaw over a cocktail, Rod was as big as life, lived life in a big way and cherished his family and friends dearly. He will leave an emptiness for many. Our condolences Christine and family. He will be missed.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff at Meota Gas Co-op,
We are very saddened in the loss of one of our amazing Directors, Rod McBride.
Rod joined the Meota Board in 2021, and brought a keen business sense to the organization. Rod always had a genuine caring approach to Meota’s business and provided leadership, mentorship and thoughtful business ideas to his governance role. No meeting was left without some smiles and laughter given by Rod during the course of business! He would always give a jab and a wink at every meeting! Rod gave his time so thoughtfully and willingly, even joining us in our community events, and always provided a happy presence at any event.
Rod will be sadly missed on the business front of Meota Gas and also for the personable experiences with every interaction.
To Christine, Brianne, Maren, Reid and the entire McBride family, Meota sends their deepest condolences to you all.
Meota will donate to STARS Air Ambulance in recognition of his valuable contributions to Meota and to the community.

We have known Rob but a short time but oh my goodness a good one. I have never felt so welcomed into a family. Rod thank you for being a friend.
Saddened to hear of Rod's loss. I first met Rod many years ago when he and my neighbor Pat McCune did some oil and gas business with our company. Rod was involved with The Ducks Unlimited Alabama guys that he and Bob Dinning Hosted for many years near Enchant Alberta hunting geese and ducks in the fall for many years. I participated in some of those events and Rod was always an active participant. Also saw Rod more recently at the Priddis golf course and he will always be missed.

The kindness and warmth of Rod and Christine when arriving at their home was just wonderful. At some point in the evening the whisky would be cracked open by Rod, a wee dram was poured along with discussions about the finer points of the choice we had made in our whisky. My heartfelt condolences and thoughts are with you Christine and your family at this difficult time.

I met Rod McBride when I was 7 years old, Brianne became my first “best friend” in grade two and had been longest friend to date. Rod and Christine McBride were parents of many firsts with me as Brianne and I grew up. Our first sleep overs my first family vacation with another family not my own. And they always helped bring me and Brianne together over the years after they moved from Calgary. Rod always made me feel welcomed and significant. I hope that makes sense, he had a way of making you feel important, and it was awesome to be in his presence. His energy drew you in and made you warm inside like the sun:) he had big voice but an even bigger heart. I will miss his energy and enthusiasm for life. I am truly sorry for your loss Christine, Brianne , Maren and Reid. He is an individual that encompassed a lot of hearts , and I cherish the memories I have of him during the time I spent with your family. Tova schaefer(Wickson)
I will always remember Rod's kind smile and giving nature. He was a wonderful man and will be missed.
Without question Rod and Christian have been the best neighbors we have ever had. We have been blessed. We cannot believe that Rod is no longer our ‘’Johnny on the spot’”. Yes, he and Christine have gone overboard to serve our community. We can only send our condolences to Rod’s family - they were blessed by a man who lived life to the fullest and gave of himself totally. He will truly be missed.
Christine and family, my sincere condolences to you all. Rodney and yourself were always a breath of fresh air and many laughs at the dealership. Rod would often come to my reception desk and ask me for a pencil sharpener when buying a vehicle ! I loved connecting with you both last year when I was able to purchase your SUV. You were kind enough to have us in your home and we still discuss the view. I will remember Rodney fondly and often. He was a great man !
Wendy and I are so sorry to hear of Rods passing Christine. We will always remember him as the best MC at our wedding. I can’t forget all the great times when he worked with us at the Okotoks RCMP Detachment
What sad news to hear of Rod’s sudden passing. Our daughter was a classmate of Maren’s and Rod was a faithful member of the cheering section in the bleachers of all the sports throughout the school years; from Millarville Commumity School and on to Oilfields High School.
Since the family move to the Priddis area, the occasions to meet up with Rod and/or Christine at the Millarville General Store have been few. When those happenstance meetups did occur, Rod was always ready to engage in those “what has been happening in your life” sessions. He always had stories to tell and questions to ask. His volunteerism seemed endless and it is amazing that Christine managed time with him and the family.
Just knowing that he isn’t there represents a significant loss to this and the Priddis community.
Love to the family,
Ted and Patti Thorne
I am so sorry for your sudden loss. He was larger than life and will be missed.
