Condolences
I have known Barney Mitchell since 1965 when we worked together at Atco Industries in the Atco office opposite the old Calgary Airport entrance on 16 Ave and 12 Street NE. I will always remember the 1965 Atco Christmas Party when Barney walked in with his wife Leona. I worked with Leona at Peat Marwick Mitchell in the late 50's and early 60's when she was a comptometer operator for several years. During the mid 60's at Atco we started a two table bridge group (Bidders Bridge Club, or B.B.C.) that still meets every other Wednesday evening through the early fall, winter and early spring.
I curled with Barney for many years as well, in the Oilmen's league, at the Winter Club, and at the North Hill Curling Club. I also played several games of golf with Barney through the many years we have known one another.
Barney was a very good friend who will be missed. May he rest in peace.
Dave Reid and on behalf of the B.B.C., John Clark, Gerry Gibson, Lloyd Godfrey, Lindsay Mackie, Al Bradley
